Casi inseparables/almost inseparable

Tenemos la costumbre de pensar que las personas nos pertenecen... Que las podemos ganar o perder como si de cartas se trataran.

Eso pensaba ella al principio, pero a traves de golpes y de sufrir mucho se dió cuenta de el error de este pensamiento.

Deja que te cuente una historia.

Éran dos amigas, digamos que una se llama Laura y la otra Helena. Helena lo pasaba mal, Laura la ayudaba. Éran casi inseparables, o eso creían.

Hasta que un día Laura empezó a hacer amistad con una chica mayor que ella, y a Helena se empezó a apartar sutilmente de ella. 

Laura no lo sabía pero en la escuela ya habían emoezado a extenderse maliciosos rumores sobre su "amistad".

Cuando Laura se entero ya era tarde, su nueva amiga la había dejado sola al enterarse de el panorama y Helena ya estaba a esas alturas muy lejos.

Su mente estaba en blanco, no sabía que hacer.

Pasó así un año, en el que decidió intentar dejarlo atrás y apañarse como pudiese, solo quería paz.

Acabó el curso, Laura estaba triste por todo lo que había sucedido. Pero tenía una esperanza encendida "volverán".

Y con el paso del tiempo, pues sí, volvieron. Y lo más importante fue la lección que aprendieron esas dos amigas:Las personas no se poseen, o están o no están. Y eso es lo que cuenta.

We have the habit of thinking that people belong to us ... that we can win or lose them as if they were cards. 

That was what she thought at first, but through blows and suffering a lot she realized the error of this thought.

Until one day Laura began to make friends with a girl older than her, and Helena began to subtly withdraw from her. Laura didn't know it, but malicious rumors about their "friendship" had already spread at school. 

When Laura found out it was too late, her new friend had left her alone when she found out the panorama and Helena was already far away by now. 

His mind was blank, he didn't know what to do. A year went by like this, in which he decided to try to leave it behind and manage as he could, she just wanted peace. 

The course finished, Laura was sad about everything that had happened. But she had a burning hope "they will return." 

And with the passage of time, yes, they came back. 

And the most important thing was the lesson those two friends learned: People do not have each other, or they are there or they are not. And that is what counts.
